Moschino Is For All Ages

Moschino is one of the latest new designer brands. It is known for its flashy, unique pop culture designs created by the company’s latest designer, Jeremy Scott (I would love to meet him!). From his Fall 2014 Spongebob runway show to his Spring 2015 Barbie-inspired show, to his latest Looney Tunes Fall 2015 collection, Scott definitely is a designer of people’s taste. He is known for his “This Is Not A Moschino T-Shirt” handbag, the “I Had Nothing Else To Wear So I Put On This Moschino Dress” dress, his ‘leather jacket’ handbags, and much more. One simply has to take a look at his designs and they know what they are about; they have their own story.
For example, when I walked into the dream store, I was introduced to a sorted array of completely unique collections. When I looked at the pink and black “Moschino” sweaters, I immediately knew those were from the Barbie collection.
In my opinion, my favorite collection of his is the Barbie-inspired 2014 collection. If you look at my photos of the Barbie items, you will see why (:
Going to Moschino in Italy was my first experience of going to a Moschino store. Actually, the first Moschino place I went to was not a Moschino store, but a small department store that carried Moschino products and a few other well-known Italian brands. The store was titled “Spazio A”, which was in Venice. The next time I went to a place where they sold Moschino products was an actual Moschino store in Rome. The store was two floors with clothes, handbags, shoes and more of different categories.
Moschino is an incredible store that has a talented designer– he combines urban street with high-end fashion. The products he designs for the company have their own story.
By the way, did you know that Jeremy Scott has a movie coming out in September?! It’s called “Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer”. I can’t wait to see the movie!

Enjoy the pictures!! (:

Chanel In Florence

A fashionista can travel all around the world, but one of the first places they explore is Chanel. I made sure I found a Chanel in every major city I went. The only one I went inside of and took pictures was of the Chanel in Florence. The first picture is of the Chanel boutique and the second one is the makeup store (both separate stores). It was an experience to be there, but I must warn: the sales associates there might follow you until you are interested in buying something.

I have many pictures of Moschino (one of my favorite designer brands) to show you!

Italian Architecture

It was such an incredible experience to be taking pictures of places that one would see from a magazine, film, or hear about from anywhere in the world. As stated in the previous post, I would show you many pictures in different categories of my travels. Today, you will see the beautiful and carefully created Italian architecture from cities like Florence (the Duomo), Pisa (the Leaning Tower of Pisa), and Rome (the Colosseum, the Vatican, Roman Forum, the Pantheon, Altare della Patria). Read on to learn more.

Florence, as explained in the previous post, is the Renaissance city. The civilians were fascinated with ideas of beauty; their city was well-advanced at the time, and their architecture was beautiful. The Duomo of Florence, known as Il Duomo di Firenze in Italian, was built in 1294 and finished in 1436, and is known to have a gothic architectural style.

Pisa is known for its 183 foot (56 meters) tall Leaning Tower of Pisa. This 7-story leaning tower, which was finished in 1360, was not always leaning. The tower began to lean during its construction because the foundation of the tower was built on soft ground which had difficulty supporting the weight. Today, what supports the tower from staying up and not falling is a metal bar in the inside. The fact that this tower was built incorrectly and leans to this day may be the reason why it is so famous. Its original purpose was to be a bell tower, and it was, but now it is a piece of architectural history.

Rome is the city of architecture. Even though other cities in Italy have had buildings constructed in the 11th century, Rome has had buildings constructed from as early as the B.C. ages! Rome is also the capital of Italy.
The Pantheon, which was opened in 126 AD, was a Roman temple dedicated to the gods of their beliefs. Today, it is a famous tourist site, but it is remembered for what it was at the time.
The Roman Forum is where we get the name for forums on websites and other places. The forum, which started being used in 500 BC, was where news was posted, criminal trials were held, and public speeches were announced. Today, they are famous ruins that many people come to see.
The Altare della Patria, which has a beautiful front yard and has such a polished white color that it looks like bright, clean teeth! In English, “Altare della Patria” means “Altar of the Fatherland”. This is a monument built in honor of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy, and was completed in 1925. The structure represents a visual symbol of the new nation of Italy and of the city of Rome liberated from monarchical papal rule.
The Vatican is not a part of Rome, or even Italy. The Vatican belongs to Vatican City, the smallest country in the world, and only occupies 110 acres, or 4,859 square miles. About 20 years ago, only about 2,000 people used to visit the Vatican. Today, about 20,000 people visit the Vatican. The building was beautiful, but just make sure you don’t mind overflowing rooms of tourists! Tip: If you plan on visiting the Sistine Chapel or St. Peter’s Basilica (both very beautiful), wear appropriate clothing (isn’t too exposed and covers shoulders, knees, and stomach) because the guards are very strict about that and they stop people from going inside these buildings if they do not follow this rule. Fun fact about the Sistine Chapel: Many people know that Michelangelo painted the ceiling and a part of the wall for the Sistine Chapel, but many people do not know why. My tour guide explained that this was because Michelangelo’s opponent, Bramante, knew that he Michelangelo was not a painter, so he challenged him. Michelangelo accepted this challenge. After finishing his work of 4 years, Michelangelo created a beautiful masterpiece and proved his opponent wrong. One of the most well-known paintings of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo is “The Creation of Adam”.
Finally, one of the most well-known architecture of Rome and of the world is the Colosseum. Built in 70 AD and finished in 80 AD, the Colosseum served as an Amphitheater, where gladiators fought to the death at the expense of entertainment to audiences. My tour guide shared that only 2% of the gladiators who fought in the Colosseum survived. The rest were either killed by other fighters or wild animals. Today, the Colosseum is a world-famous tourist site. Tip: If you plan on visiting the Colosseum, make sure you book tickets on the computer ahead of time! You can purchase them at the Colosseum, but the lines were incredibly long, and I do not know why anyone would do that when they can just get it ahead of time.

Many more photos are to come (:

Aspects of Italian Scenery

Buongiorno! I have just returned from an Italian dream vacation. While exploring the country, I landed in Venice, then traveled to Florence, from Florence I visited Pisa, then took a train to Naples to then take a long ride into the mountains of Amalfi, then finally went back to Naples to then take a train to Rome. I have MANY pictures to share with you, but I will show you by category: beautiful scenery, world-famous architecture (Leaning Tower of Pisa, Colosseum, The Vatican…), churches, outfits, stores, restaurants, etc… To start off, I will show you all of the hidden wonders that Italy has to offer.

Venice is a city on water– literally. After arriving to the Venice airport, I was a bit surprised when I was taken to my taxi that would lead me to my hotel. The taxi was not a regular one– it was a boat. Yes, a boat! In Venice, since it is a city that is all surrounded by water, transportation includes taking a boat (as a taxi or public bus), walking, or if you want to treat yourself, a gondola. Anyway, the city’s unique appeal had much to offer, as well as the different people, culture, and lifestyle.

Florence is the city of the Renaissance. Despite the city’s color-coded buildings (scaling from a light orange to cream white), Florence had many remarkable works of architecture. As shown in the Florence photo below, the people (dating back to the early 1500s!) were very crafted, and yes, the city was very large back then. Not as large as today, but pretty big for a city during the 16th century. Also, you may see a large building in the middle of the photo. That is the Duomo of Florence. I will show you close-up photos of the church in a later post. Florence is definitely a city of notableness.

Amalfi is a town in the mountains. To travel to the Amalfi coast, one has to drive UP a mountain through a series of winding roads, which, if one looks down, can see about a 1000 foot drop, to then have to repeat the same going down the mountain after reaching the top. After the hectic drive of about an hour and a half, which can be a bit nauseating, the destination of Amalfi has been reached. Despite the driving, Amalfi is incredibly beautiful. The town on the mountain lies above the crystal-blue Mediterranean Sea, which is welcomed by many yachts and a relaxing summer breeze. As shown below, I have many pictures from Amalfi to share with you, and more photos are to come. The hotel we stayed at was the Miramalfi, which was an amazing hotel with a breathtaking view from any room in the hotel. Amalfi was a great choice for settling down and relaxing. I felt as if the town had their own theme of colors (white for the buildings and blue for the ocean), which reminded me of Santorini. By feeling so far away from the rest of Italy (since it is behind the mountains), one truly does feel like they are on a hidden escape from reality.

Ravello was recommended by many friends and hotel employees. This town is a few miles away from Amalfi. This town is within the mountains with no ocean right beside it, but one still gets an incredible view since Ravello is higher up in the mountains than most of the surrounding towns (see last picture of Ravello in pictures below). This town, which has just as scary of roads, is a beautiful town with much culture and history. The main church of the town was built in the 1200s! The food was incredibly delectable, as one would expect Italian food to taste, since all of the food was made fresh right at the restaurant: the oils, pasta, salad, tomato sauce, etc. As I ate, I had an extraordinary view of lush, green mountains. Ravello was a unique experience, and if one travels to Amalfi, they should also consider Ravello.

Many more photos are to come (:

Music Artists Influence Fashion

Celebrity singers have almost everything: fancy cars, expensive homes, an exciting job, millions of adoring fans, but what is most impressive is their killer fashion. People may be inspired by the music an artist creates, but it is the styles and fearlessness in what they wear that stays in one’s mind. Read on to find out why todays singers are the leading fashion inspiration for many of their followers.
Music is a huge part of people’s lives, so it is important that these songbirds look like they are at the top of their game. Why else do celebrities spend thousands of dollars on clothing? Of course, they have the money, but they dress to impress knowing that they will land that coveted magazine cover/tabloid and most importantly stay in their fans minds long after their music has faded. If you have not seen Madonna in her Gaultier pointed bustier, find her on YouTube or a myriad of vintage magazine covers. Her outfit is still talked about—artistic or embarrassing. This is really the point of the article. The main reason to celebrate these innovators for fashion inspiration is because of their confidence. Celebrities will try an outfit out before we do; we are inspired after the dust has settled (in other words once we are sure it is okay to wear a version of their outfit) and then make it our own. When a singer steps out on the red carpet, they know all eyes will be on them: they dress to impress. The confidence of singers is shown in how they express themselves. They cannot waste the time worrying about what others might think of them. Knowing what crazy costumes Miley Cyrus or Katy Perry wears exemplifies how they wear what makes them happy and remembered by those around them—they dare to be different.
katy perry
Just like them, people can learn to embrace themselves for who they are and make a lasting impression on others.
harajuku
Singers are spectacular fashion icons. One reason why we race home to our mailbox or go to our nearest store to pick up the latest magazine or browse fashion blogs is for unique fashion inspiration. Just think of Gwen Stefani and her adorable Harajuku style, with her red lips and Japanese influenced (Harajuku is an area in Japan where the coolest people hang out) clothing. It had fashionistas running to the stores for anything with her name on it. This is what people like Rihanna or Beyoncé are also ubiquitously known for. A few weeks ago at the Met Gala, Rihanna wore a Guo Pei 25 kilogram dress and Beyoncé a skin-tight sheer crystal Givenchy dress. Not that anyone would wear either of these dresses pretty much anywhere we can still glean a spark of their fashion fearlessness. One may not wear a gown with a 20 foot train in the back, or a diaphanous Greek goddess style, but what we can do is wear a dress with a longer hem in the back, or a sheer material with a short undershirt underneath. These fabulous songstresses are above par on the fashion radar and are very looked up to in the fashion world.
ariana grande
Singers have their own looks that inspire us to have unique styles of our own. Ariana Grande has a lady-like chic look that usually includes a tight-fitting crop top, high-waisted jeans, femme-fatal Christian Louboutin or Yves Saint Laurent heels, and finished off with a diamond choker necklace. Every now and then, she wears cat ears that match her mood or an animal onesie to stay comfortable. Another singer like Taylor Swift has her own inspirational style: high-waisted shorts, long-sleeve crop tops, flats, and most importantly, bright red lipstick. Because these singers have their own defined style, women all over are inspired to create their own appearance that will leave others in awe. Read books about fashions over the last few decades, scour over your magazines, and watch the award shows…and don’t be afraid to try a style that is uniquely you—Rihanna would be proud.

The Life of a Fashion Blogger

Ever wondered what it would be like to travel the world in search of the perfect outfit, get paid to wear a cute skirt and top, meet thousands who share the same interests as you, and get the fashion scoop long before your favorite store does? Welcome to the life of the Fashion Blogger.
Wikipedia defines a fashion blog as a blog that covers the fashion industry, clothing and personal style. The Urban dictionary defines fashion bloggers as a kind of species of fashionistas that dedicate their lives to their fashion blogs—a place where they post pictures of styles that most cannot afford or pictures of themselves wearing things that they find fashionable. The typical blogger could be anywhere from say 14 to 25+ Bloggers are predominantly female, although there are male bloggers, too.
rookie
Some fashion bloggers write posts or bits of information with photos included. Some bloggers write just for fun, others as a hobby, and then there are those that are dedicated to making fashion blogging a career with the hope that what they write about will be found by a large company looking to have the blogger help them brand their item (get their item out to the publics attention). A blogger’s greatest hope is to gain followers as this helps build their brand.
kayture
What one may find in a fashion blog is an entrance into the personal style of the blogger and in many cases, a sense of street style. There are some blogs that have great photos and great commentary. Some speak of startling trends/influences, and some that have it all. A few of my favorite bloggers are Kayture, The Man Repeller, Style Rookie and my blog Omgfashiongirl. Many bloggers are Fashion week invitees, style muses for designers, appear in pop magazines and have been featured in Teen Vogue. The blogger for the site Style Rookie was a 13-year-old who simply wanted to document her own style. Now at 19, Tavi Gevinson has her own online magazine; if she wears an outfit, others are likely to go shopping and copy her style. My blog is about taking designer items and mixing them with pieces from Forever 21, H&M, Guess, and similar stores for a glamourous yet affordable vibe.
Now that you have gotten a peak into the world of the fashion blogger, I must tell you that there are many bloggers writing about a myriad of different topics (go to Google and start searching). Though it is believed that the purpose of all of this blogging going on is to teach us to own what we wear, our style, and how we live our lives. One well know Food Blogger states an often quoted saying on her blog “you are what you eat”. Fashion bloggers have just taken this saying and made it their own, except their saying is “you are what you wear”. Have fun with fashion, admire a blog with styles you appreciate but would never wear, or try on those accessories that you see look so dashing on someone, and most importantly, enjoy. Bon Appetite!

Take the Latest Spring Trends from Runway to Hallway

SPRING RUNWAY REPORT
If the looks from the most famous designers of the runways show that Army, Black & White, ‘70s Redux, Denim, Flowers, and Lace are coming back this spring, you had better believe it. The models sporting the first peaks of coveted couture fashioned by the designers indicate that these are the looks that will most likely appear this season. Some of the designs from the runway may be a little eccentric, but that doesn’t mean that shoppers can’t get inspired to make their own swoon-worthy spring outfit!
The army look isn’t just meant for the battlefield. Designers such as Karl Lagerfeld (designer of Chanel) and Ralph Lauren arranged a military-inspired trend. Lauren used the workaday army jacket and combined it with a figure-flattering dress, in addition to jeweled accessories. Together, the combination formed a feminine-army style. Lagerfeld concluded with a piece daring to show that the flexibility of suede fatigue pants can also have a preeminent army look as well. Another designer such as Marc Jacobs created a silky general-like dress displayed by a war-serious model. Other outfits were in the colors of navy green and a faded cream. The designers featured many takes on button-downs , coats, and green suede dresses that look like they were made for a commander. These looks prove that with the right accessories and designs, one could win the war in best dressed.
army dress
Black and white goes well with any outfit. It’s how one styles it that makes it unique. Designers such as Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Balmain, Narciso Rodriguez, and J.W. Anderson displayed many more-than-ordinary patterns such as grid dresses, color-blocking, and cut-out designs. Versace presented a casual chic crop top with black shorts, which show its famous logo on the belt, and a fierce yet laid back blazer to finish of the most exclusive statement. These images give a futuristic look to black and white. So, yes, anyone can look good in the two colors, but styling them in these trends is what makes someone stand out.
A little more than thirty years ago, the 70’s Disco era was around. This time period was known for its beat enhanced music, style, and fashion! Prada put the image into place at the fashion shows with a leather trench coat, platforms and high-knee socks. Other designers rocked their 70’s looks, such as Emilio Pucci wearing a scarf tied around the neck and a matching pony-print blazer and pants topped with heels that stick out like a jet stream. Others went for a not-so-serious setup. Valentino, Etro, and Dries Van Norten went for a more hippy-ish look. For all of you hands free hand bag collectors an interesting aspect of the show was that these clothing artists captured the importance of the shoulder bag. Coming in colors such as umber and rich mahogany, there were ubiquitous long handled, rounded shape, metal hardware bags which were very popular in the 70’s and still proves to be today as well. These designers not only styled great outfit getups from the 70s, but they took us back in time as well!
70s outfit
Many people know of denim: it’s used for jeans, skirts, and jackets. However, there are many more ways to wear it. The designer experts have proven how. Denim can be worn as a jacket-and-trouser combo, which is what was shown by Gucci, Tod’s, and Bottega Veneta. In addition, denim could also be worn as a jumpsuit. It may sound very risky, but with the right fit and some accentuating accessories, the look can easily be mistaken as an outfit for the cover of a magazine. To finish off, denim overalls are a must for this category. Some may not wear them, but others think of them as a way to change up one’s style. Long overalls would go great with a pair of cute heels, just to give some height and make the outfit a little more feminine. Heels or boots would put emphasis on a shorter pair of overalls. It’s still not too late to try something new with denim!
Floral is a widely known style that has been around for ages. Happily, it is coming back this spring, so why not try a new floral look? Miu Miu has convinced us that a flower skirt paired with a plain top and complementing heels can create a simple, lovely outfit that does not make one feel that they are at the florists. Several noted eye-catching styles were a matching three-piece jacket, crop top and skirt by Diane Von Furstenberg, a dark romper/dress designed by Saint Laurent, and a loose and long-flowing flower dress by Céline. Other designers put together cheerful bright pinks and reds into their dresses. In addition, brown, black and colorful platforms all over the runway frame and go well with the floral look. Floral is such a popular trend not seen in a while, since it’s returning in a big way, why not try something new and unique?
Another well-known style that is coming back this spring? In one word LACE. Many people love the look of lace, and there’s no questioning why; its style is g-ddess-like, clean, and sharp. Model Cara Delevingne styled a flowing lace dress along with black high-heel boots and a belt for Givenchy. Giorgio Armani put together a simple white dress with lace right in the middle of the dress. Oscar de la Renta designed a full-on lace dress with a metallic belt to make the look stand out, and Chanel put together a blouse dress with lace designs and a gold metallic statement belt and sneakers. In addition to the look, lace’s best friend, the gladiator shoe, was prevalent at the shows. If lace gives off the illusion of being goddess-like, gladiators complete the look 100%, especially really tall and strappy ones. Designers like Alexander McQueen and Valentino knew what was right and styled them at the runways. This look is not hard to create, yet it appears so stylish and elegant. Heads will be turning and everyone will be wondering where you went shopping to achieve your g-ddess like glow.
lace dress
Now that you know Army, Black & White, ‘70s Redux, Denim, Flowers, and Lace are very big this spring, sign up for the military inspired pieces, contrast your styles, feel like a bohemian hippie, stop to smell the roses and be the g-oddess you knew you always were.

Stay Fabulous,
~Danielle** (:

Inspirational Italian Design

Hi! In this picture, I decided to go with an Italian designer theme! I show the perfumes Dolce & Gabbana and Versace, four Gucci bracelets (in red, gold, green, and grey), and a Gucci hair clip! I put these colorful and fragrant items together to transport me to the warm beaches of Italy during these cold winter months. Any time you need a little inspiration, just collect your perfumes and jewelry and bring them all together; you’ll be amazed at what you can think of.
